Abolish ridiculous pet registration fees for pets that are both desexed and microchipped.

The issue

Residents of the Fraser Coast have long been known to be amongst the lowest soceo-ecominic status within Australia (This includes having almost the lowest employment rate in Queensland). That being said the rates for pet registration being charged by the greedy Fraser Coast Regional Council are the highest rates amongst the entire of Australia.

Recent publications state: "The $105 fee payable to maintain a whole dog or cat in the Fraser Coast is more than many other local government areas. From a list of five Queensland councils, it was found whole cat owners in the Fraser Coast faced the second highest charge." (That being said sister town Gympie residents are not charged registration fee's for their pet cats).

Comparisons:

Whole Dog

  • South Burnett: $142 / No discounts offered
  • Fraser Coast: $105 / No discounts offered
  • Brisbane: $99.50 / pensioner $49.60
  • Bundaberg: $85 / pensioner $40

  • Brisbane: $22.80 / pensioner $11.30

  • Gympie: $20 / No discounts offered

The Fraser Coast Regional Council has been quoted saying that 'we need to compare eggs with eggs' yet when shown these comparisons, continue to RISE the costs for pet registration going up 6% in one year (http://www.frasercoastchronicle.com.au/news/anger-at-pet-rego-fee-rise/2334061/) whilst employment and so forth continues to go down.

WHY TO SIGN THIS PETITION:

1)You live within the Fraser Coast Regional Councils Municipalty.

2) If you would like the council to remove registration fees for your desexed and microchipped pet dogs or cats. If your pet is desexed and microchipped then it allready HAS 'a return ticket home' a quote used by council when trying to sell the reason for paying your registration fees.

3) You support responsable pet ownership, desexing and microchipping but not greedy councils.
