Change the name of Franklin Pierce University

Change the name of Franklin Pierce University

The Issue

Franklin Pierce was the 14th president of the United States. Though he did not own slaves he did not oppose it, "Pierce was elected on a platform of maintaining the status quo in regards to the issue of slavery."(PBS, 2019). While the University has changed its name once in 2007 from "College" to "University" I am asking you to change the name from a man who condoned egregious criminal acts and the enslavement of African American lives. Please consider changing the name of your University to represent the diversity and inclusion that is present in our society today.
