Stop the shrinking of Lunch Period at FHS

The Issue

At Franklin High School, we have gone to online school to protect students from COVID-19. The schedule is very similar to the in-person schedule we used last year before the pandemic. We have five 65 minute long classes with a 45-minute lunch in between the fourth and fifth periods. This schedule put a strain on students as they had long runs of screen time without any breaks until lunch and then another run of screen time. Students stay seated for six hours staring at a screen. Starting next week our lunch will be shortened to 25 minutes this will make our day over six hours of sitting staring at a screen and under 30 minutes of time in which we are supposed to make ourself's food and take a break from working. This is not enough time to make and eat food let alone take a break from being on a screen for the past hours. A short lunch will lead to people missing class time because they are still making lunch or eating and people simply not going because they want a break from the extremely boring monotonous day. A smaller lunch will lead to many problems including students missing class and being less focused. Please sign to help us keep our lunch at 45 minutes. The links below show the dangers of sitting with screens for too long.
