Demand the reopening of Angelo Miller's case

The Issue

Angelo Miller was killed on March 23, 2007 by John Lundy, an off-duty Cleveland police officer.  Alicia Kirkman, Angelo’s mother, has been fighting for justice for her son for thirteen years. Alicia was offered a settlement by the city, but her son’s case never reached the Department of Justice. John Lundy, the officer who murdered her son, was never held accountable.

Angelo was 17 when he was killed. He was shot 8 times from the driver side, one bullet struck him in the back. The 911 call recorded his last words before he was fatally shot, as his hands were up in the air, saying: “I’m not doing nothing.” The Cleveland Police Department accused Angelo of theft at an apartment complex, where he was killed. However, there were many questions left unanswered:

- There was no details revealed of information discussed between the 911 operator and the caller.
- There was no details of any witnesses.
- There was no evidence for Lundy’s accusing Angelo of trying to use the car as a weapon.
- There was no evidence to prove if Lundy’s training was updated or valid in 2007.
- There was no evidence to prove if Lundy received permission to work an off duty account from the Cleveland Police Department.

Demand the reopening of Angelo Miller’s case to ask for transparency and accountability from the Cleveland Police Department to hold John Lundy accountable for the murder of Angelo Miller. Angelo deserves to rest in peace and Alicia, his mother, as well as his family, deserves justice and closure.
