#BringBackSTAR: Save STAR From Cancellation
The Issue
On the day of May 10th, 2019, STAR, an empowering musical drama, got cancelled by FOX after three ground-breaking seasons.
This musical drama is told the story of three girls’ rise to fame. This show has such an empowering and diverse cast that highlights the experiences of being in a music group, the atmospheric drama of abuse and standing up for yourself, and nuanced friendship between Star, Alex and Simone.
The reason this show got cancelled is because Empire slipped 21% in adults 18-49 this season and STAR just fell only 11% of the demo. And it’s a middling show produced by an outside studio at a time when the network has fewer scripted needs.
This cancellation has caused some outrage and shock. STAR made a major impact on history, people’s lives, and in the music industry.
The topics are discussed and portrayed in this show. This show included racism, panic disorder, heartbreak, anxiety, depression, regret and suffering, female empowerment, addiction, healing and many, many more.
STAR is my favorite series ever, aside from Empire (which got renewed for season 6), and we just can’t believe that FOX cancelled this show. This show that has all the the beautiful music, the juicy secrets, the tea, and the wig-snatching.
This show left us on the season 3 finale, and it brought out its horrifying and dramatic bloodbath. With Grandma Ruby’s, Cassie, Angel and Jackson dead, Olivia coming back, and Davis, Star’s baby, being stolen, we will never get ANY answers on the next season.
I, and some people, am/are shocked, frustrated, bitter, weak and saddened that it’s cancelled. We NEED a Season 4, or more seasons, so WE can get some answers, once and for all. If some of the shows get a new network for renewal, STAR should too!
For all the people reading this, I hope you understand what I’m saying. Even if you do, or don’t sign it, it’s a ride-or-die situation. But bad things will happen sooner or later. That’s just how life works.
You can let it paralyze you, or you can roll with it.
You can figure out the things you can.
