Cancel the Wendy Williams Show

Cancel the Wendy Williams Show
The Issue
Dr. Amie Harwick, a Los Angeles family therapist, who was previously engaged to “Price is Right” host Drew Carey, was found dead in a Hollywood Hills neighborhood at the age of 38. An ex-boyfriend was arrested on suspicion of murder by throwing Dr. Harwick from her third floor balcony.
During the Hot Takes segment of her talk show Monday, Wendy Williams brought up the story of Harwick’s death and made light of her murder. She stated “She was killed, not by Drew, but by the ex,” then, smiling, she said the Price is Right catchphrase “Come on down,” and then looked up and turned her head down as though following someone falling out of a building to their death.
Rightfully her audience remained in shocked silence at her deplorable behavior. This is not the first time that the show host has made light of serious subjects, but let this be her last!
The Fox Broadcasting Company remaining silent and allowing the Wendy Williams Show to remain on the air not only legitimizes the trivialization of domestic violence but helps perpetuate the idea that violence against women is both socially acceptable and open to jokes if done for a talk shows or entertainment ratings.
