Thank you for your help with getting 'Boston' my GoldenDoodle returned back to me.

Dear Boston,

There’s so much that I could say to you right now.

I know you can’t talk back to me, and I know that you’re just a dog, right? But you’re not just any ordinary dog… you’re MY dog! You’re my boy… and your daddy loves you!

First off, I want you to know that you’re the greatest thing that ever happened to me. In my darkest hour, I wanted to have a friend. I went down to Rhode Island one day and picked you up. I handpicked you and said, “This is my boy”. I’ll NEVER forget that moment!

I’ll never forget carrying you home. We were both nervous and scared. I held you in my arms all the way home to Boston. We made a pit stop at a coffee shop so that I could get some coffee and you could take a whiz. I looked down at your little puppy face. We both had big smiles.

When we got back home for the first time… I walked inside the elevator with you in my arms… my friend asked me what your name was. I looked her in the eyes… and I said, “His name is Boston.”

At that moment, it resonated in me that I had a beautiful GoldenDoodle named Boston. When I took you inside the house, we were both shy. I had just bought you a crate and a nice cushioned bed… I let you sniff around to get a sense of your new home. As you got a little older, you bit things and chewed things. I’ll never forget the one time you chewed my channel changer. You were teething.

I’ll never forget the times you pooped inside the house and it really stunk! You had some problems (my fault for not knowing you had a sensitive stomach). Actually, I’ll never forget the time you and me were inside of an elevator and I was trying to impress someone… well actually, three really pretty ladies to be 100% transparent. Unfortunately, it didn’t work out too well. I should have never taken their floor. I should have taken you directly to the bathroom. You had a massive mess on the carpet floor outside of the hallway next to their door… yeah. I’ll never forget that one!

I’ll never forget the times I took you to the ocean and we walked Revere Beach. We went and ran on the beach together. I’ll never forget the times you and I would hop in the car and head to the North Shore. We would go to Gloucester and Rockport. We would leave the city and make a day out of it.

I’ll never forget taking you to pet stores and getting you groomed and looking pretty. I’ll never forget bathing you and washing you. I’ll never forget the times that you and I would walk all throughout the city. I loved taking you to coffee shops. You would always love the smell from all my favorite sandwich shops. You and I were inseparable. We were best friends forever… literally.

I told you everything. I told you all about my day. I told you about my biggest problems in life. You would cuddle with me. We were cuddle buddies. I’ll never forget the times you would jump on me and wake me up and start licking me in the mornings. I would laugh and smile. I’ll never forget the times I took you outside to the dog park. We would meet all these new friends. You were the most joyful dog out of them all. You were the star of the show!

Boston, I love you so much. You have no idea how much I miss you. I’m fighting for you. I want you to know that there is nothing in this world that means more to me than you.

I hope someday we’ll meet again. I’d love to see that beautiful smile. I’m looking forward to being reunited with you, Boston.

Whatever it takes,

Nathanael Strickland,
