As someone deeply embedded and personally affected by this community, I have observed a concerning pattern of behavior. Insensitivity and unkindness have led to people feeling isolated, despairing, and in the most extreme cases, contemplating suicide.

In our community, an alarming number of individuals have chosen to end their own lives due to a perceived lack of support and empathy. Data from The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention indicates that suicide rates have been rising over the past decade, a worrying trend that demands intervention (AFSP).

This petition aims to change our behavior, to encourage us to become more sensitive to our actions. That we exhibit patience and love, in particular, towards those who are struggling, those who may not have the strength to stand up for themselves.

This plea, rooted in personal experience, is much more than a simple request. It is a heartfelt beckoning for change, a call for a collective effort to transform our communal actions and attitudes. By model kindness and empathy, we can foster an environment where no one feels so desperate and alone that suicide appears as the only option.
