Didn't banks create ATMs so that people wouldn't have to visit their banks thus cutting down on staff and administration costs? Every year banks make a huge profit out of their customers and I say it's time to look after their customers and stop trying to satisfy the shareholders by charging insupportable, avaricious and ever-increasing bank fees that have, for some, a real effect on the standard of living. Just think, if 67.5% of Australians (aged between 15-64 years) from a population of 22,947,792 as of 29 March 2013 (ABS) withdrew cash from an ATM today and paid $2.50 for the privilege, banks would earn an extra $38,724,397.00 in one day. If the same people paid just .25c per ATM withdrawal, that amount would still be a whopping $3,872,439.00 per day, more than the average person is ever likely to earn in six lifetimes, let alone the disadvantaged.
