Hello everyone!

I am a social work student and I am collaborating with my group to advocate for a policy change for the Fort Worth ISD's Free Summer Food Program. 

We would like to focus on food insecurity among students in Fort Worth ISD. The district currently offers a free meal program that provides breakfast and lunch Monday through Thursday, with different pickup times depending on grade level.

We want to propose expanding this program to include dinner as well. Currently, students are required to be present at designated locations and at designated times to receive their breakfast. The same is required for them to receive their lunch. Instead of students having to come at separate times for breakfast and lunch, we’re suggesting one morning pickup where each student receives a bag or box containing food items for all three meals for the day — breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Pickups will remain at all current locations but will be condensed into one pickup time. They would take the food home rather than eating on-site, which would make the process quicker and more accessible for families who have transportation or scheduling challenges, and most importantly, provide students with a full day's worth of meals.
