Thanks to everyone who has signed the petition! Here's a quick update, and then some next steps:

Update: many folks have asked if a local mask mandate would be possible or legal. Short answer: it can be done! School districts and local governments across Texas are defying the governor's unconstitutional order. Check out this article on Houston ISD's plan to mandate masks and also this one on other local governments taking on Abbott. It's possible. It just takes courage to do the right thing. Si se puede!

• MOST IMPORTANT: Email FWISD Board President Tobi Jackson and let her know how you feel. Be honest and heart-felt but also clear in making our demands. She's the real decision maker, so make sure to also hit her up on Twitter and Facebook.
• Also email your FWISD Board Trustee. Click here for a list with links to their email addresses. If you don't know who you rep is, email all of them.
• SAVE THE DATE: Next Tuesday, August 10, there will be a Board meeting. Details have not yet been posted, but it will likely start at 5:30pm at the Professional Development Center at McCart & Berry. Please plan to come and make your voice heard! (Details on how to sign up to speak will be forthcoming)
