The purpose of this petition is to let the Fort Worth City Council know how many are in opposition to chain establishments in the Stockyards. The Historic Fort Worth Stockyards is no place for a chain restaurant!  Thousands of visitors and locals come every year to spend time in a unique atmosphere that does not exist anywhere else! From the cattle, hog and sheep pens to the old packing houses now being torn down, people can enjoy the history of the livestock and ranching industry in North Texas, tour the beautiful old Exchange Building, enjoy an authentic rodeo and see the Longhorns driven by cowboys down Exchange Street twice a day. They do not need to then stumble upon a shiny new chain restaurant that can exist anywhere else and not seem out of place! Majestic Realty has repeatedly stated that they want to keep things local and Texan in the Historic District and support small business owners, so open that chain restaurant a few blocks North or East...let the overflow crowds patronize those places a short distance away, but not in or near the Historic District of Main and Exchange Streets.
