Put AC or Fans on Fort Campbell Buses

The Issue

With the heat in this area reaching highs of 100, and the humidity being high as well kids are struggling on the buses. They are being forced to wear masks along with high temperatures. Today getting off the bus my daughter could barley walk, she was hyperventilating and dry heaving. She had heat exhaustion. I took off her sweat drenched clothing, put a wet washcloth on her as she told me she couldn’t breathe it was so hot on the bus. That she had puked on the bus and was upset.
If your going to make our kids wear masks in this heat at the very least they need fans on the buses or better yet AC. When I called the Bus barn with my concerns they stated there was nothing they could do. That DODEA regulations don’t permit the use of fans, they can’t be mounted on their buses. Also that my daughter had to wear her mask.
What if my daughter passed out on the bus? This is a safety hazard!
I called the school and they explained the same thing. Writing down my concerns isn’t enough! So I turned to our Facebook community page where parents told me their kids are also getting off the bus drenched in sweat and heat exhausted!
We need to advocate for our children. These buses need at the very least fans mounted in the buses or AC, help our kids get home safely! If they are forced to wear masks on top of this heat it makes for even more of a reason to sign this petition. But masks or not riding on a tin roof bus in this heat and becoming heat exhausted just coming to or from school is absolutely unacceptable! Advocate for our children in this Kentucky (Fort Campbell) heat! One of my friends stationed in Virginia stated her children were dealing with it as well! Why is this a thing across the military community? Please sign my petition, let’s make our concerns heard!
I Melissa Brandau and everyone who signs this petition, do so to get Fans mounted or AC installed on Fort Campbell Kentucky buses! With this petition I will also be putting in an ICE complaint. We will not be ignored!
