The Issue

We are former FAMU Football Players against FAMU continuing to play FBS Power Conference Schools.  As former players, we stand with our young brothers on our football team.  When our athletic department began supplementing the budget with these "Money Games" we had the talent to at least be competitive.  The historic victory over the University of Miami in 1979 is a distant memory.  All that game did was show them how to out-recruit us in South Florida and they built a whole dynasty off of it.  With the change in the landscape of football with the advent of Name Image and Likeness (NIL) and the free flow of the transfer portal, these teams are literally professional teams with general managers scouting talents from all levels of college ball.

We, the undersigned former FAMU Football player wish to encourage the FAMU Board of Trustees, FAMU President and FAMU Athletic Director to refrain from engaging in these games any further.  As former players who shed blood, sweat and tears to build the brand of FAMU through football, we oppose the degradation of our image to international audiences because of the current landscape of the NCAA.
