Every year through social media channels, several members of the Biomedical Engineering community worldwide celebrate a supposed World Day of the profession/speciality field on December 5th. Unfortunately, this date is not backed up by any of the officially recognized international professional organizations.

Hence, this petition is for the International Federation for Medical and Biological Engineering (https://ifmbe.org/ and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (https://www.ieee.org/ to pronounce an official and formal Global Biomedical Engineering Day, with the suggestion to have it on December 5th of each year, to keep with informal, yet popular tradition among those professionals.
