Forgotten Cats, Inc: Left Behind in 2027 Grant Funding! No Grant. No Safety Net.
The Issue
We work closely with Forgotten Cats, Inc. of Delaware who provide us with the use of their HVHQ (high volume, high quality) low cost spay/neuter clinic & the Dept of Ag grant funding. We have worked with them for the past seven years & through them we have been able to tnr (trap/neuter/return} thousands of cats here on the Eastern Shore of Maryland! Their clinic has spayed/neutered more then 200,000 cats across DE. PA. MD. and NJ !
NO GRANT! NO SAFETY NET! THE CATS STILL NEED US!
We are deeply disappointed that funding was not awarded through the 2027 Department of Agriculture grant to help support the forgotten community cats who desperately need spay/neuter services! (FC has been awarded this grant for many years!) But the need hasn't disappeared! Every day cats are still living outdoors, kittens are still born, & communities are still reaching out for hep. TNR takes time, volunteers, traps, transportation, food & most importantly funding for spay/neuter surgeries. A grant decision does not stop the need & it will not stop our commitment to these cats!
Now more than ever, we need our community to stand beside us. Without this funding we will not be able to continue helping the number of cats we are called about! Together, we can continue being their voice & give community cats the humane future they deserve. We are asking everyone who cares about community cats to email: Jen Swanson of the Dept. of Ag: @ Jen.Swanson@Maryland.gov & ask her to go before the Spay/Neuter Advisory Board to explain how very vital & important funding is needed for four states!
