Students at Forest Hills High school will be forced to adjust to a new bell schedule yet again for the 2018-19 school year. We feel that we shouldn’t be forced to follow a new schedule for various reasons. Forcing students to stay longer than they have to is more of a reason for a student to decide to skip class, or even stop attending school altogether. Also, schools should be encouraging students to have a life outside of school. Whether it be spending time with friends/family/loved ones, or engaging in sports and having a job, students should be able to have time for more extracurricular activities and events that can elongate their resumes and future college applications. It is understandable that by extending the schedule for students, teachers would have more time to educate their students and get their lessons across thoroughly. However, this one benefit does not outweigh the many consequences that will result from such a drastic change. Freshman and Sophomore students should not have a 9:51 am - 4:37 pm schedule. Juniors and Seniors should not have a 7:16 am - 2:02 pm schedule. Additionally, the schedule had already been changed for the 2017 school year which students have already adjusted to. Changing the schedule again will not benefit the students of FHHS. While school is already stressful, us students want to feel like we have a voice and start contributing to the decisions made at our school. Thank You.
