Force the BBC to hold a national final for Eurovision 2027
The Issue
This nation has been embarassed at the Eurovision Song Contest once again. For the third year in a row, we have received 0 points from the European public. We're now the laughing stock of the contest.
The BBC have consistently selected either mediocre or dismal acts, whilst leaving talented rising stars unnoticed. We have the greatest music of any nation in Europe; and even worldwide, we are rivalled only by the United States. But this is not reflected in our Eurovision entries.
Under the internal selection process, the BBC seems to arbitrarily select random entries that either fail to stand out onstage or are simply terrible, with the merciful exception of Sam Ryder in 2022.
Here are the results the UK has achieved this decade at Eurovision, thanks to the BBC's internal selection:
- 2021: James Newman – Embers 0 points; 26th out of 26
- 2022: Sam Ryder – SPACE MAN 466 points; 2nd out of 25
- 2023: Mae Muller – I Wrote a Song 24 points; 25th out of 26
- 2024: Olly Alexander – Dizzy 46 points; 18th out of 25
- 2025: Remember Monday – What the Hell Just Happened? 88 points; 19th out of 26
- 2026: Look Mum No Computer – Eins, Zwei, Drei 1 point; 25th out of 25
There is a way forward. We must force the BBC to hold a national final for next year's Eurovision Song Contest. That way, the public can decide who should represent us, instead of the BBC's ineffective internal selection process which is shrouded in mystery. At least then, if we come last, we can blame ourselves!
Sign this petition to demand a national final for Eurovision 2027. Together, we can ensure that the nation's musical talent is showcased on the biggest stage in the world!
