Hi lovely women and men,
Amongst the historical, theosophical and spiritual analysis of my last updates, I noticed the main experience laying outside of my discussion was health. My key concern for the wellbeing of people in general is their mental health.
We exist in an age where there's always a clock ticking and someone always has a way to get in touch with us. The happiest times of my recent years have been to turn off my phone and go walking in the woods. A big worry for us is that there's less wild places than ever. It can feel as if the world is becoming a barren place to live in and that there's no escape from worry.
The reality is that we've also encountered wonderful surprises in life and synchronicities that have changed our view of ourselves or our environments. These are undeniably there but the bi-polar nature of modern living can have us denying these perfect opportunities while we feel surrounded by darkness. I find consciously summoning them to be a light and this enables me to gain a new dimension on my anguish. Anguish, unease, anxiety, paranoia and fear only exist in one dimension and in one thought process at a time whereas humans are capable of thinking in potentially infinite dimensions. For any of you suffering from the injustices of life, my heart, mind and soul go out to you. It will pass, stay strong and don’t give them an inch.
I worked with a psychology team for seven years and discovered many trends among the people that sought the support of the unit. The first thing was that the financially poor, desperate and vulnerable people using the service were all really generous and kind. They'd had to survive terrible abuses and had generally witnessed some kind of psychotic hallucinations. These experiences are near impossible to relate to the lay person in terms that won't frighten or worry the listener. My clients spent more time anxiously appeasing other people than they were comforted themselves. They would often give until they were depleted or retreat behind emotional walls. It's safe to say that their experiences would equate to a normal individual's idea of hell on earth.
There is a big problem with the idea of parity of esteem between mental and physical health. We can diagnose a broken leg and fix it, but in psychology we're using ten percent of our brain to study the whole organ. In my opinion, physical and mental health can't be compared in any way; other than the client is in pain.
I led with this preamble to discuss the private research I've been conducting since I've left the NHS and how this impacts my view of society in general. It's my opinion that everyone has the right to housing, food, water and respect. The problem is that so many people are influenced to disrespect each other in ways they don't comprehend or aren’t sensitive to. I won't go into the latter but it's safe to say it's akin to the micro-aggressions that minority citizens feel levelled at them every day.
While working in mental health I discovered that almost all of my clients "heard voices" and that those who reported not doing so showed signs of fear and lying as they answered. Many of these reported feeling terrified of telling anyone, as the voices said they'd punish them if they did. They hadn't told the psychiatrist as they were mortified at being diagnosed with schizophrenia. In many cases, I was the first person they'd ever told. This was powerful for me and I knew it would be for them too. This became part of my raison d'etre at work. I was instilled with the passion to get as many people out of that darkness as possible.
The common experience of "hearing voices" is that they start by undermining the individual's sense of self and personal autonomy. They all work to the same design which is loosely based on a set of shifting rules. The victim is informed that the rules are fair and that the process is due to the sufferer being guilty in some way. This is impossible to deny as everyone has done something they're guilty about. One client was tortured by the idea her brother would find out she'd been abused by her neighbour. In my opinion, none of these clients had ever done anything worthy of such evil tortures.
I can't find the study but I recollect a fact that people with psychotic disorders are near to five times less likely to perpetrate violent crimes and three times more likely to be the victims of them. This may surprise you as we're generally fed a diet of attention grabbing headlines that target people with psychotic disorders.
I personally found my clients to be nicer than 'normal' people, have greater vision and compassion for the future and a genuine desire to see a world where we all can live in peace. Apart from the abuses that had invariably been set against them, and the physical, emotional, psychological and spiritual stresses these caused, I found them to be, in outlook, much more mentally healthy than my co-workers. In fact, as I studied the signs of "hearing voices" in my clients’ behaviours, speech patterns, eye movements and subtle changes in mood, I began to notice the exact same signs in my colleagues. I began to approach the subject with people and they often became defensive or evasive.
It became even more "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" than that. I began to see the signs in almost everyone I met. My approach to the subject is so honed that I can bring "hearing voices" up in subjects with an ease that allows the receiver to openly disclose this fact. Many of these "normal" people reported being terrified of the experience and saw it as a "their dirty secret". One that must be hidden at all costs. Some people reported being "trained" by the voices as if they were dogs. They said that they were rewarded with "nice moments of peace" if they behaved in ways the voices approved of. The voices mostly wanted people to do spiritually corrupt things.
On this spiritual note, the voices always seemed to be pushing the victims towards crimes, hurting people, taking part in dark acts or simply believing that they were God. These common experiences seem demonic in idea and too closely associated with heretical acts for their possible spiritual nature to be soundly discounted.
This was one of the main problems I had with psychiatry. They cared for the physical, mental and emotional welfare of their patients but there was never a word of the soul. This troubled me more when I read the DSM (the psychiatrist's bible) and noted that any "excessive" Religious (or political) reasoning was able to be diagnosed at the doctor's discretion. The only problem with this is that different psychiatrists have opposing views on what constitutes the spirit and which direction of faith is undesirable. Psychiatry was set up to research and treat illness but it's grown to the point where it's mandated to police what is "normal" in society and also within the evolving definition of humanity.
My clients (and the ‘normal’ people I've spoken to) are terrified of talking about their experiences of hearing voices as they fear they'll be diagnosed with schizophrenia and end up living a nightmare. It seems that modern psychiatry has created generations of repressed minds and spirits. These people would rather go to their grave with the nasty voices unchecked, than face the fear and possible ostracization of receiving a labelling diagnosis or judgement from their friends and family. This is the power of the media, ignorance and silence in these times. I must note that the power these voices hold is considerable and can't be ignored. Their victims (as I call them) feel that the "demons" (as the majority of sufferers describe them) work together and even control society (or the world). This is obviously false but one can imagine the damage that could be done if a large collective of people believed the same thing.
The reports from individual victims show that these "demons" afflict the individual with reality-warping experiences that differ with each person’s memories and perceptions but have key, common factors. Firstly, the "demons" want the individual to feel like they're the only person suffering from this experience and, secondly, that it'll last forever. I’ve observed through my work in treatment that of these illusions are false. Next, the "demons" try to get the individual to learn to speak in their own head in order to isolate the victim and pay the voices undivided attention.
They also tend to draw the sufferer into some kind of delusion/fantasy which includes making the world seem less real or not real at all. This delusion differs for everyone. I've known people who've admitted feeling followed by cameras and being the star of a reality TV show from the future. This pleasant, but egotistical, fantasy is quite popular with similarly-affected and needy people but draws them away from their families, spouses and friends. The key "demonic" act is to divide and rule. I've had clients that reported feeling conditioned to believe they were "split" into different people that the demons used physical prompts and audible noises to get them to switch between. It's worrying to say that I've noticed the signs of this in our current Government ministers.
It makes me so sad to see humans who've suffered so much and their pain shows in their disregard for our health services, human rights and too many other decisions to mention. I feel that the world is a hospital for souls and that every being should be able to express their pain to the extent that they need to. The terrible nature of abuse often leads to the tortures of negative sensory hallucinations. The report of the diagnosed sufferers and the silence of a huge majority of normal people who a psychiatrist would diagnose if they were honest, makes me feel that psychiatry isn't healing our society but hobbling it. Like most Western Medicine, it attempts to suppress or conceal the symptoms and ignore the cause. Psychiatry is even more damaging as its crusade for normality would preclude any new evolutions in humanity. If a form of repressive psychiatry were around in the era of Neanderthals, then Homo Sapiens would have been considered mentally ill.
So, to go back to our consideration of the wellbeing of people in a broken society, it's important to factor in that, day to day, we have almost no political, economic or legal power within our countries unless we are very rich or well connected. This is terrible for a Democracy, but we live in what is termed as an Elective Dictatorship which is further based on Feudal administration structures. The key element binding these archaic functionaries together is the Secret Society of Freemasons who promote the idea that it maintains social stability. It’s good to bear in mind that most world governments have evolved from Monarchic Parliaments containing unelected lawmakers into some form of constitutional form of Republic.
There is a benefit to being controlled and manipulated by the Church, the government, the extra-legal administrative bodies and social propaganda for hundreds of years. We bear absolutely no responsibility for the Global catastrophes that are wrecking the world. None of us support the idea of people being left in spiritual darkness (like my old clients), we would choose to drive less and use less petrol if we could afford to cut down our hours at work, money from our taxes are spent on bullets that kill people, every government commits social crimes in our names - they still see our silence as complicity and our votes (however cast) as consent.
But, we are so brainwashed and controlled that, just as long as we aren't tempted into the physical, emotional, psychological and spiritual crimes offered by the voice of anyone, then none of us had any choice in this world we live in. We didn't help construct it, guide it and we have no legislative powers. This state of being is a public fact and people are required to feel powerless and vulnerable under its existence but I think it absolves us of the sins of responsibility for the country. This is different if you work for the army, the navy, the civil service and anyone who upholds the pall of depression and anxiety that is choking our country to death. But it shows us that we're free still. We can stand on the outside of an appalling system with strong minds and hope, or faith, that all things come to an end that is good.
I remind you that humans are chimps that use ten percent of their brains (three percent more than chimpanzees) and that they're our closest biological relative. I've met many people who share classic, negative chimp characteristics but also many people who've transcended that nature. This seems to be the test of life, to enjoy the simple pleasures and not be persuaded that pleasure is the meaning of life. It's always the soul that comes first.
May every sunrise bring you strength and peace. May every sundown bring you a billion suns.
