Hi folks, I just wanted to update you all in relation to the ongoing saga I have with Origin Energy - the company who has passed on the 'access fees' during the period where the electricity was turned off to my property during and after the 2011 floods. 

The electricity was actually turned off for 2 or so years, so there is absolutely no doubt that they were not entitled to continue to charge me for access to a 'service' they were not providing.

Well, I have been requesting access to information for MONTHS! I got a response from them a couple of days ago from their 'senior complaints officer' Josh, who denied I was a customer of Origin during the period in question..... that is despite actually providing me with a copy of the bill they sent me about 12 months ago. THE SAME PERSON SENT ME THAT BILL!!!! And the same person is taking a MONTH to respond to my requests.

OK I do know what my rights are, and I have lodged a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner. They agreed to take the matter on since it involves more than one agency, and the matter is complex. Usually the toothless Energy Ombudsman deals with requests for access to information.

In my response to "Josh", I highlighted the prospect that his deliberate delays might be construed as an offence under the Queensland Criminal Code, by Attempting to Pervert the Course of Justice, especially since I have flagged on multiple occasions to him that I wished to challenge the legal decision of a default obtained in a Queensland Court against me (unknowingly).

Unfortunately, the Office of the Australian Information Commission is well and truly overloaded and have a very lengthy backlog of complaints to deal with. Fortunately though, the OAIC is not the toothless tiger that the Energy Ombudsman is.

I will endeavor to keep you all up to date with this saga, however in the mean time, can I ask a huge favor? Can I get you all to share this petition among your family and friends. Anyone can sign, no matter what State you are from, as long as the signees are over 18 years old.
