Hello,
This is my contribution to Citizen's Discussion at Tuesday's City Council meeting:
Good morning,
Our city government appears to have devolved into a wild west style of governance.
“We don't have to answer any questions that we don't like”.
“We don't have to admit to the public when we make mistakes”.
What is the estimated cost of the needed repairs on the section of the Barr Trail that the city acquired in the land swap?
How much annual tax revenue will the City of Manitou Springs lose because of our City allowing the sale of recreational Marijuana?
Did the Manitou Incline Task Force not even consider whether the Incline would be sustainable in the long term?
Does our new Summit House on Pikes Peak allow 1031 people inside at a time?
We were told that by widening the doors the facility would qualify for a variance in the fire code.
It would not be possible for the city to make a mistake that is that obvious.
Did the city lie to get the public to approve an inferior and much too small facility?
When will the alternate route down from the Manitou Incline be open?
I do not believe that our city will make $10 million to $15 million a year in tax revenue from recreational marijuana sales.
The voters in our city would have approved the ban on the sale of recreational marijuana in our city if they had known that it would do great and lasting harm to Manitou Springs.
I raised these issues with the city 3 years ago, so why have city officials not given me a written assurance that the measure to allow the sale of recreational marijuana is legally sound?
Where will ten to fifteen million each year in tax revenue come from?
It is simply not possible that those numbers are accurate.
Why is our city allowing the sale of recreational Marijuana, it is clearly not legal.
Will the Mayor, a City Council Member or someone from the City Attorney's office please give me a written assurance that the measure to allow the sale of recreational Marijuana is legally sound?
Thank you, Carl Strow
