COS Land Swap
Dec 8, 2024

Hello,

This is my contribution to Citizen's Discussion at Tuesday's City Council meeting:

Good morning,

What is the city's position concerning the mistakes made during the public comment process for the land swap carried out with the Broadmoor Hotel?

The city now admits that Rocky Mountain Field Institute (RMFI) was doing $40,000 a year in repairs on that land and that they had been doing so every year since 2013.

I have discussed this issue in my emails to the city for some time, what has been determined?

Did Mayor Suthers know about the repairs and decide to hide that information from the public in order to make the land owned by the Cog Railway appear to be more valuable than it was?

Did Karen Palus act in such a manner?

Does the city now claim that no City Official knew that RMFI was doing that work on the Cog Railway's land?

Did the city fail to properly research the liabilities that came with that land, or did the city willfully conspire to deceive the public?

The public must now be informed that relevant financial information was not provided concerning liabilities on that land.

Does the Mayor and City Council disagree with this?

If so, tell me why.

Has RMFI told the city that the land in question needs $1,000,000 or more in repairs today?

The total estimated cost of the needed repairs on that land must be provided to the public.

The city made a huge mistake during the public comment process and this fact must be disclosed.

The city had a legal obligation to know that the work being done on the land each year.

The city had a legal obligation to tell the public that $40,000 in repairs was being done on that land each year.

If the city had provided this information the public would have asked how many years this work would continue and for the total cost of all needed repairs.

In failing to provide that information, the city effectively revoked the public's ability to make an informed decision.

Please tell me now: What is the total estimated cost of all needed repairs on that land?

Thank you, Carl Strow
