This is my contribution to Citizen's Discussion at Tuesday's City Council meeting:
Good morning,
During the public comment process for the land swap, we were told that we were getting land that was worth $3.3 million in exchange for land that was worth $2.2 million.
Let us look at the public comment process.
The land swap was approved by the City Council on May 24th, 2016.
In August of that year, stage two repairs on the Manitou Incline began.
How much did that cost? Was it $1 million or more? How much of the stage two repairs were on the land we got from the Cog Railway.
Would it be necessary to discuss this during the public comment process?
The land that we want to acquire from the Cog Railway has part of the Manitou Incline and part of the Barr Trail on it.
As I recall, the section of the Manitou Incline on that land was in what I call a "Pick Up Sticks Formation" when the land swap was approved, was it not?
At the time of the public comment process, how much work did the section of the Manitou Incline that was on that land need?
How much work did the section of the Barr Trail that is on that land need?
City Officials are our agents. You are responsible for making sure that the Broadmoor does not deceive us or cheat us financially.
The city erred. The people's rights were violated, and the public comment process is invalid.
Thank you, Carl Strow
