Hello,
The City Council told me on September 10th that my questions about the land swap have been answered. That claim is factually incorrect, my questions have not been answered. At that meeting I felt that I was being told that I was wasting the Council's time, and that they were going to forbid me to discuss that issue in the future. Am I allowed to speak at Citizen's Discussion on the subject of the land swap?
I do not particularly want to speak before the Council on that subject again. I feel that I have made my point clearly, and that the public has a right to hear truthful answers to my questions.
The City of Manitou Springs is spending around $40,000 each year to perform repairs on the trail on this land. This proves that major problems exist on that trail. When will this work be completed? How many more years will this be necessary?
If the trail needed more than $260,000 worth of repairs at the time of the public comment process, then the appraisal that was submitted by the Broadmoor is invalid, and all land must be returned to it's original owners.
How much money has been spent on the trail since the land swap was approved in May of 2016? Four summers have passed, has $160,000 been spent? How much more is needed?
Is the City of Manitou Springs planning to conduct a study of the drainage issues? Do they plan on replacing the fence on the City's land?
There was great public opposition to the land swap. Many people are still not happy about the deal. If the City has learned that the deal has a major flaw, or that some important facts were not presented during the public comment process, this has to be reported to the public.
Thank you, Carl Strow
