The screenshots of TxDOT Crash Records Information System (CRIS) maps above show the location of the TEST Area around 11th Street and White Oak, and the location of the CONTROL Area. Refer back to Part 1 released 4/17/25 for a description of the TEST and CONTROL areas. Refer back to Part 2 released 4/19 for graphs representing crash data obtained from the CRIS maps.

Jason Starr's background in his words: "I did financial modeling and forecasting at a national retailer w/ 3600 locations at the time as well as oversaw analytics for marketing and merchandising (product). We measured and tested everything."
While this is one person's perspective on crash data, it validates what we have heard from different people at city hall which is that the draft report has not been issued as a final product because of a number of errors. In short, they do not know what to do with it.
Do they let it die quietly and leave alone the road diets that have been done. Or do they invest substantial time and money to correct the report or remove certain road diets.
The decision largely rests with our response.
We have heard Mayor Whitmire express a desire to do what he was elected to do. One reason many elected him was to fix the city and remove road diets. And he has made a good start. He wants to remove road diets but needs cover because the bike lobby is loud, well-funded and has captured the media. After all, who doesn't like bikes? We do, absolutely. We just want a better build. His decision rests on the response of the people of Houston.
Sign this petition if you want the road diets removed to allow a freer flow of traffic. We can then take it to the mayor and tell him so. The residents of Montrose collected over 8000 signatures to convince the mayor to change course on Montrose Blvd. We need more signatures to change the course for road diets in the city.
If few sign, then we get what we deserve.
