The Issue

If you think petitions like this are useless, you are wrong. With the click of a button, YOU will become a deciding factor of whether or not this motion can pass in Port Hope, and potentially help other municipalities do the same.

Success has been found in Toronto, with this initiative taking place, and youth gaining more influence. If you want to make change for the small but mighty community of Port Hope, being a part of a bigger number is one of, if not, the most effective ways to show our council, that this community wants change, and in this case, that young people want and deserve a voice in Town Hall!

Youth or non-youth, if you think the minimum age to sit on boards and committees in Port Hope should be reduced from 18 to 16, sign this petition!!

Save the date and join us at Town Hall (56 Queen St) on June 17th at 6:30pm to show your support

Here are the following boards and committees that youth have the power to sit on:

  1. Parks, Recreation and Culture Advisory Committee 🛹🎡🎊
  2. Port Hope Public Library Board 📚
  3. Accessibility Advisory Committee ♿️
  4. Environmental Advisory Committee 🌱🌻
  5. Heritage Port Hope Advisory Committee 🕰📜

*all 5 of these would be in addition to the existing Youth Councillor role, amplifying from one to at least SIX opportunities for Port Hope's Youth to make change in our community!
