For the LOVE of HHI: STOP Using TOXIC Pesticides!
The Issue
Sign and share this petition to ask Hilton Head Island's Town leaders to prioritize the health of residents, visitors, children, pets and wildlife over the current chemicals they are allowing for weed and rodent control.
Recently, our local juvenile Great Horned Owl followed by over 1.6 million admirers on Hilton Head Island Land Trust's Raptor Cam was killed due to pesticide poisoning - an entirely avoidable tragedy. The rodenticides that claimed the owlet's life and the glyphosate harming our endangered species can no longer be ignored.

Did you know the Town of Hilton Head Island frequently sprays our playgrounds, dog parks, ball fields, and beaches with known carcinogenic pesticides like Ranger Pro(glyphosate) and Speedzone(2,4-D)? Some parks receive daily applications, and residents are not notified.
"Pregnant woman, infants, and young children are especially vulnerable to synthetic pesticides. Even low-dose exposures during early life can result in lasting damage. Protecting the most sensitive among us preserves the health of all." - Non-Toxic Neighborhoods' Advisor Philip J. Landrigan, MD, MSc, FFAP
The U.S. Enviromental Protection Agency's final report = Glyphosate harms or kills 93% of the plants and animals protected under the Endangered Species Act, and 96% of the critical habitat that supports them.

Unlike patient-consented prescriptions, this exposure happens without community consent. The town has a duty to protect public health and safety and must stop using public funds to purchase and apply known carcinogens for purely cosmetic reasons.

Please sign and share this petition in support of getting HHI aligned once again with Charles Fraser's vision and commitment to protect the environment and wildlife for all.
