Pittsburgh Police K-9 Rocco was stabbed severely during the apprehension of a wanted sex offender and later succumbed to his injuries on January 30th, 2014.  It is believed that if it wasn't for Rocco, his handler could have been killed.

K-9 Rocco's death 'great loss for city of Pittsburgh'

Let's honor Rocco by making a change!

Currently, Pennsylvania law (§ 5511.2) lists the assault or the killing of a K-9 dog as a 3rd degree Felony punishable by only a maximum of 7 years in prison.  The laws instated to protect our human law enforcement officers do not apply to K-9 dogs and therefore puts K-9 dogs and their handlers in grave danger. The current laws are unacceptable.

To protect our K-9 dogs and their handlers, I ask you to support the following changes of the law to:

-5511.2 (a) Any person who willfully taunts, torments, teases, beats, kicks or strikes a police animal commits a felony of the 2nd degree.

- 5511.2 (b) Any person who willfully tortures, mutilates, injures, disables, poisons, or kills a police animal commits a felony of the 1st degree.

Please sign this petition to get the attention of our state representatives to help support this change in law and protect the dogs and humans that serve and protect.

In addition to signing this petition, please copy and email the following letter to our state representatives.
