For better research and help for those who suffer from Fibromyalgia, including benefits.
The Issue
This petition is to the Government of the U.K. to ask them to fund better research into Fibromyalgia, and also seek a better system for those who suffer from Fibromyalgia to get the disability help that they require, which includes aids within their homes to allow them to have a reasonable or good quality of life. Also, the current benefits system must be reformed to make claims for Personal Independence Payment, Employment and Support Allowance, and other disability awards. Finally, a universal scheme for applying for Blue Badges as every County has different requirements and regulations.
Fibromyalgia has been added to the Equality Act 2010 as a disability, and those who suffer from the condition should be allowed to be awarded the items listed above without difficulty, stress or concerns. Life with Fibromyalgia is challenging enough without having the added stress and concerns.
This petition is also to get better recognition for people who suffer an invisible disability, for those who suffer from a long-term debilitating illness or medical condition. These conditions like Chronic Pain, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Anxiety Disorders, Depression and Major Depression, Fibromyalgia and many others.
These conditions are debilitating, real, and a constant fight for the sufferer of these conditions, and recognisably different from day to day, and person to person.
The problem sufferers face is that they are not heard or understood as they should be, and are constantly fighting medical and Government systems to try and get what should be available to them.
This petition is to ask Parliament/government to expand on what they have already put in the Equality Act see https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/85010/disability-definition.pdf this document highlights what parliament already recognise as a disability or long term impairment, and this is to call for a bigger and broader new document relating to invisible disabilities and long term impairments.
Therefore the purpose of this petition is also to get a greater clarification on the above document, and new laws and guidance for medical personnel, and Government Offices, to fully understand, appreciate, and deal with invisible disabilities and long-term debilitating impairments.
