Pledge your support for a Fairness Ordinance in Owensboro-Daviess County, Kentucky!
The Issue
Elected Officials of Owensboro, Daviess County:
I am writing to encourage Owensboro and Daviess County elected officials to pass a fully inclusive nondiscrimination ordinance that would prohibit discrimination based upon sexual preference and gender identity. A fully inclusive ordinance is one where security, dignity, and fairness is to be afforded to everyone, as it pertains to housing, employment and access to public accommodations.
Freedom from discrimination is the right of all people and we should strive to see that everyone in our community is treated with fairness and equality.
This ordinance has the potential to create better lives not only for the LGBTQ community, but also for the whole community. In his “Letter from the Birmingham Jail,” Martin Luther King Jr. stated:
“Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. We are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly, affect all indirectly.”
I thank you in advance for your immediate attention to this issue.
Sincerely,
