Reinstating WNPL Senior Women's Competition by Football Queensland for 2016

Reinstating WNPL Senior Women's Competition by Football Queensland for 2016
The issue
Football Queensland have made a decision to remove the open women's NPL competition in 2016. The game we all play, coach, support and grow through, is under threat. By signing this petition, you are coming together with many others in the game to show your support for the reinstating of the Open NPL and U20 leagues in 2016.
We have compiled feedback already about the harmful affect of this decision from people throughout the game. Please read and support this petition to prevent these affects becoming reality.
1. Players with elite backgrounds are separated from the U20s preventing vital mentoring, coaching, and the contribution of excellence to the quality of the competition;
2. A decline in the quality of the U20s NPL league that will negatively impact the development of younger emerging players;
3. The loss of a single open feeder league to the W-League;
4. Increased quality gap between W-League and remaining NPL U20s league;
5. Loss of the culture of excellence in women's football in Queensland. This culture is created by the passion and skill of senior players across the league and communicated to junior players, aged 11-15 who are seeking to enter the NPL;
6. Loss of senior players from the game who are nearing retirement and are considering or actively shifting into coaching roles. These senior players will ensure the game's development in future years. This in particular has significant long term damages to the game.
7. Large player movement between clubs which will destabilise the NPL and surrounding leagues;
8. Player movement to other states in search of true open women's competition below W-League;
In summary, this decision will lead to a painful experience for the female football community in Qld on and off the field, now and in the future. Regardless of our club, age or ability, we are all on the same team in our disapproval of this decision.
