FOOD HANDLERS IN SOUTH LOS ANGELES BE MANDATED TO WEAR GLOVES AND HAIRNETS.
The Issue
There are many fast food chains in the predominantly Black Communities in South Los Angeles that are owned and operated by hispanics and some asians. On many occasions I have ordered food, and found strands of hair in my food. I have also witnessed food handlers handling cash transactions, answering phones, and then start preparing food without washing their hands. I have witness food handlers with bandages on their hands, nail polish or other nail decorations, jewelry, rings etc. I've heard customers complain about foreign bodies such as insects found in their food not to mention that the parking lot and sitting area is very dirty. I just find it disturbing that fast food workers in the Black Community don't wear gloves while preparing food or even sanitizing the posterior of their fast food business. Although the wash your hands signs are posted for the employees you can't trust that they're washing their hands properly. Gloves would be the barrier to most germs, and will prevent the spread of pathogens. My main goal is to enforce a serious investigation on these food organizations, and protect the health of the consuming public, also generate improvement in food safety for low poverty communities.
