My earlier plan was to urge the relevant authorities on their promise to settle our never ending conflict between human and the pygmy elephant here in Telupid and Tongod.

The best solution should be building a Sanctuary for this poor elephant but I know this will involves millions (if not billions of money).

After having a thorough discussion with my family, my close friends who works with the NGOs and those who works in the related field especially wildlife and nature, including some of the villagers who have been always being disturbed by these poor elphy, we decided to give food voluntarily to them, in a proper and safe way with the guidance of the experienced trainers.

We believe these would definitely avoid the elphy from being violent and keep on destroying our crops thus creating a good bond between human and elephant. We believe we could co-exist and share this place with them.

Waiting for a proper sanctuary to be built will be a total waste of time, we have been waiting for more than ten years, and sending back the elphy back to the jungle (the same method they have been using for decades) didn't solve this problem at all because they keep coming back and look for food.

The same goes with electrical fencing. Not effective enough to stop them from getting out of the jungle. We don't even have enough workers nor enough budget to maintain the electrical fence.

So to conclude, after years of facing the same problem over and over again, we have decided to accept the elphy with open arms and try to feed them with enough food.

Who knows this will be a good start for us to build our own mini sanctuary or a unique station where elphy can come and eat food provided by us or the public before they return back to the jungle.

We believe it will benefits the local community here too especially in our economic growth such as tourist attraction, business opportunities and job openings.

To end my pledge, I wish to say thank you to everyone who has been rooting for my fights for elephants these few days. I finally have the guts to start this petition because of the supports I received from all of you. Every penny raised through this petition will be used to buy foods for the elphy. Please sign and share this petition so that we could make sure the well-being of these poor pygmy will be taken care of. We already lost our Sumatran rhinos and we don't have much pygmy left, we couldn't afford to lose them too. Saving them not only because we love them, but because we also NEED them for our survival.
