Food city at Fox Plaza has been the neighborhood grocery store for over 50 years. So many generations have shopped in that specific location throughout all these years. Waking up to the news that Food City at Fox Plaza is closing its door in August 2022, makes me very sad and emotional as well as everyone in this beautiful neighborhood. From our little kids, to our adolescent/teenager kids attending Henderson Middle school or Jefferson High School and stopping by to get some snacks as they walk to school, perhaps a bag of takis and a gatorade, to the new couples starting their lives by moving in and going grocery shopping, to our kind elderly people going to get their weekly/monthly groceries. This location in particular has a lot of meaning to everyone that lives in this Barrio. Not to mention, the delicious tortillas de harina that they sell here, the carnitas, los tamales de rojo y verde, el pan dulce, el menudo! And many many things more...

I am calling all the people in its surroundings and people that don't live near the store but still have beautiful memories about this historic grocery store and might still come to shop here, to come together in this petition to give the store more business and to show the store our love, and make THIS store one of the 2 that will remain open.

Food city en Fox Plaza ha sido la tienda de comestibles del vecindario durante más de 50 años. Muchas generaciones han comprado en ese lugar en específico a lo largo de todos estos años. Despertarme con la noticia de que Food City en Fox Plaza cerrará sus puertas en agosto de 2022 me entristece al igual que a todos en este hermoso vecindario. Desde nuestros niños pequeños, hasta nuestros hijos adolecentes que asisten a la escuela intermedia Henderson o a la escuela preparatoria Jefferson y pasan a comprar algunos refrigerios mientras caminan a la escuela, tal vez una bolsa de takis y un gatorade o una nieve, hasta las nuevas parejas que comienzan sus vidas mudándose y yendo a comprar comestibles para su nuevo hogar, a nuestros amables ancianos y personas de la tercera edsd que van a comprar sus comestibles semanales o mensuales. Este lugar en particular tiene mucho significado para todos los que viven en este Barrio. Ni hablar de las ricas tortillas de harina que venden aquí, las carnitas, los tamales de rojo y verde, el pan dulce, el menudo! Y muchas muchas cosas mas...

Hago un llamado a todas las personas en sus alrededores y a las personas que no viven cerca de la tienda pero que aún tienen hermosos recuerdos de esta histórica tienda de comestibles y que aún podrían venir a comprar aquí, para que se unan en esta petición para darle a la tienda más negocio y para mostrarle a la tienda nuestro amor y hacer ESTA tienda una de las 2 que permanecerán abiertas.
