Is the elephant Ruperta still alive? Nothing has been heard about her wellbeing since early April. In a related news story on animal conservation, CNN reports that Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto responded on social media to a petition by the World Wildlife Foundation and actor Leonardo DiCaprio. Their petition asked Mexico to do more to save the last 30 vaquita marina porpoise in the Gulf of California. The world demands action. President Peña Nieto is responding to national and international pressure. It is up to each and every one of us to make authorities accountable for the wellbeing of our wildlife. Why can't the Venezuelan authorities do the same for Ruperta and all other animals in captivity in Venezuelan zoos? Please sign and share this petition so that Ruperta and all other animals in Venezuelan zoos live and thrive. We can not be cold to the fact that Venezuela is suffering. Let us give Ruperta and the starving animals in Venezuelan zoos a voice. Let us continue to support this petition and others that ask for proof that Ruperta is alive and that measures have been taken to improve her health. Don't give up the fight! Ruperta and the zoo animals in Venezuela depend on international support during these times of crisis. "Fe y fuerza, Venezuela."
