Throughout this pandemic, we have seen student voices neglected due to the power that the district holds, and we know something as important as graduation is coming up, we feel like our voices NEED to be heard. We have created a petition anyone can sign to show the representation and voice of those in our community. It’s been extremely hard to create events that we should have had for seniors, but we have understood and remained compliant with guidelines.

Students of the Fontana School District have struggled through many hardships during their high school careers (especially seniors). They have managed to persevere with the end goal of graduation in mind. Taking away a physical graduation ceremony will feel like these efforts are being discounted and would be extremely disappointing. Now that we have changed from the purple tier to the red tier and have discussed the reopening of schools, we hope principals and district administration will consider reevaluating the execution of graduation as we have already submitted our plans but were denied  without reason by the district themselves which is why we are desperately trying to have our voices heard since they have been neglected by the district so that we can have a safe, yet celebratory, in-person graduation ceremony.
