The Civil Rights Act was passed fifty-eight years ago, but we have not yet established justice in the United States of America. The people of Florida cannot afford to wait any longer. Our lives are at stake. Our advocates in Washington are deadlocked by those who profit from systemic racism. We live in a GOP stronghold where hazardous policies are sown so that they may proliferate nationally. Our need for a formidable defender of our civil rights has never been greater. It is imperative that we elect an Attorney General who will uphold justice for the people of Florida amid what has been a continuous assault on our civil and human rights. We believe there is no more reliable and proven individual than former State Attorney, Aramis Ayala. 

Although Ms. Ayala has declared her candidacy for the U.S. House of Representatives, we hope she will consider her pledge to serve the people of Florida better fulfilled as our state’s Attorney General. We need someone right here on the battlefront close to home who will plant her feet firmly in the fight to end brutality and false convictions while demanding accountability for victims of gun violence, domestic violence, and any violence that plagues our communities. Moreover, we need an Attorney General who views her role not as the enabler of special interests, but as the legal representative of the people of Florida whose duty is to be their eyes, ears, and voice. 

The race for Attorney General of Florida has profound national implications. We have already had a glimpse of what Aramis Ayala is capable of achieving in the fight for justice and public safety. In steadfast defiance of the status quo, her work to keep our young people out of the system, defend the human rights of immigrants, expand transparency and accountability for law enforcement, uphold First Amendment rights, and protect victims of abuse has led to historic changes. We ask her to take her commitment to Floridians to the position where she can most swiftly affect the greatest number of lives, using the powers of her office to expand the work of justice to housing, the environment, protecting our votes, and more. For women, for Black and Brown people, for the LGBTQIA community, for the working class, we call on Aramis Ayala to run for Attorney General of Florida.
