The Issue

As a student deeply invested in the future of Florida’s education system, I’m speaking out against House Bill 113 - a bill that doesn’t improve education, protect students, or strengthen our institutions. Instead, it distracts from the real issues that matter: funding, safety, and equal opportunity.

Right now, too many schools and universities across Florida are underfunded, leaving students with overcrowded classrooms and limited resources. Instead of forcing campuses to rename roads for political purposes, our leaders should be securing more resources for scholarships, mental health programs, and better learning environments.

In a time when campus safety is already a major concern, HB 113 fails to address what truly protects students. Investing in trained personnel, safer facilities, and inclusive programs would do far more good than symbolic political moves.

Education should create opportunity, not division. Our campuses should mirror the diverse, creative, and resilient communities they serve, not be turned into platforms for political agendas.

I’m calling on Florida legislators and the Governor to vote NO on HB 113 and refocus on real progress: accessible education, student safety, and fair funding for all.

Call to Action:
Sign and share this petition to show that Florida’s students, educators, and alumni stand together for academic freedom and against political overreach.

  2. Contact your state representative and senator to demand they oppose HB 113.

Together, we can protect Florida’s universities from political interference and keep education for the people, not politics.
