Kirk Reams was elected Clerk of Court in 2006 and has served the people of Jefferson County for the past 11 years. In October 2017, Governor Rick Scott suspended Clerk of Court Kirk Reams for misdemeanor petit theft and malfeasance/misfeasance for pictures taken in the courthouse. In January 2018, a jury of his peers acquitted Mr. Reams in less than 10 minutes for the petit theft charge. The Governor did not reinstate Mr. Reams at that time, and instead “pushed” the decision off to the Florida Senate to review.  To date, the Senate has not reviewed Mr. Reams’ case, nor has the Governor reinstated Mr. Reams to his office. We respectfully request the Governor to immediately reinstate and restore Mr. Reams to the position for which the people of Jefferson County elected him.
