Devon Tillman Gregory is my eighteen (18) Year old cousin that was shot approximately 35 times by several Jacksonville Sheriff Officer's which resulted in his death during a traffic stop as a passenger in the vehicle on November 17, 2020 in Jacksonville Florida. There have been too many instances of African American's being killed by police officer's in our country. This is an epidemic. It's the new normal and the only people paying the price or living with the consequence's, are the victims and their families.

We want all police officers to be held accountable for their actions. We need them to truly understand that they have a duty to protect and serve the people, not to be the judge, jury and the executioner. We want all officer's to be held accountable for any proven malice act and behavior. They should be held accountable for acts of negligence that involve an officer failing to utilize any known de-escalating or alternative methods and techniques, in any situation that may require them, or on any unarmed suspects prior to using deadly force. They should be terminated and charged with criminal offenses for the direct violation of the law, policy or procedures that directly resulted in the loss of human life. 

Additionally, we want the officers to experience the loss of their regular routine as well as financial disparity during the investigative period while on administrative leave. We want all police department's to undergo extensive and effective training that provides new and improved techniques and what could we have done that would have prompted a different outcome scenarios, in order to prevent the avoidable loss of human life in the future.

We want mandatory policies and procedures implemented that provide a guideline to assist an officer in a situation that may be similar to a situation from past history that resulted in the loss of a civilians life. We want the Law's to change bringing these demands to life which will inevitably give the Power back to the People where it was initially designed to remain.

Police officers should be well trained and prepared to utilize alternative and appropriate strategies in the event it becomes necessary. Utilizing these techniques / steps during their approach to the suspect; while attempting to question or further investigate the situation; and during the process of initiating contact for detainment or an arrest, increases the probability of a result of the preservation of human life. 

If we implement new laws, guidelines and procedures, officers will abide by them because they are liable for their actions and they will also become knowledgeable on alternative methods and de-escalation strategies that will decrease the amount of lives loss during simple interactions that have ended up as homicides.

Every career, company, position, and person have experienced situations where the old methods and ways of doing things no longer produce results remotely close to what it used to produce in the past. The World is changing and were all out here living it. We the people are getting wiser, smarter, stronger and fighting harder. Technology's advances are the people's advantages and we are truly using them.

We are the people of the United States of America and we demand a change that will promote an abundance of respect, pride and appreciation that will be carried out with the highest sense of loyalty and prosperity throughout the country. Give us the power to get Justice for these senseless murders and make the changes necessary so there we be an effective deterrence to the officers because of the egregious consequences.

Prove to the people out here working hard everyday, voting and paying their taxes while abiding by the laws and doing their part everyday to be good people "citizens" that you believe and think Black Lives Matter too. All of you have they power to make the changes that are desperately necessary today. Take action and stand up for the people - all the people and you will unequivocally witness the entire country blossom remarkably promoting success of prolific proportions. 

We no longer want to be afraid to call for help because of our race. We want to feel like the police are the people to call for help in a life threatening situation. We want all acts of negligence, intentionally or premeditated immoral and unethical actions or behaviors of officers that are proven to be a fact to be criminal violations and treated as so.

These laws will aid in the restoration of the people's previous belief's and faith in our justice system. These new laws will also give the people the power to get Justice for the actions or lack of proper actions performed by each officer when there is evidence that supports or proves any violation of these laws.

The implementation of new laws will elevate the people's previous faith in the Justice System and help to remove the hopelessness from the minds of the people it previously failed. Making some changes will begin to restore a sense of trust and belief from experience because you know change is possible. Law enforcement is supposed to be the help that saves you from danger while rescuing and protecting you until you get to safety, but that's not the black / African American experience with the police officers in Jacksonville, Florida. Their the harassers and dangerous and bullies and the father brother etc. killers. Who do we call for help when we need help now?

You all are who we call now - Florida State Senators, Governor Ron Desantis and you as well Mayor Lenny Curry. We need all of your help immediately. Change is inevitable, it's coming no matter what.  #JusticeforDevon
