Why this petition matters

Started by Jessica Stanek

On December 29th, an overnight cleaning employee was at Naples zoo, working as hired to clean the gift shop and bathrooms. He chose to ride his bike to Eko the tigers fenced enclosure, jump a barrier fence outside of Ekos enclosure, and stick his arm in the fence in an attempt to pet the endangered tiger. That decision ultimately ended up costing Eko his life when a deputy showed up and had no choice but to fire a shot a Eko in order to free the ‘victims’ arm. As a result of someone’s careless actions, Eko is now deceased. A loss of a beautiful endangered animal. The ‘victim’ will not be charged because there is currently no law to charge him under. This needs to change in honor of Eko and to hopefully help people in the future to be aware they can be criminally held liable if they do the same, which will hopefully prevent the loss of another animals life in a similar situation. Thank you for at support received!
