Hundreds of seabirds at the Skyway Fishing Pier State Park have been hooked, injured, and killed. Many bird rescues and volunteers have been working tirelessly to save the birds. Unfortunately, this will continue to happen as long as there is no oversight or retribution for the people who are deliberately or indirectly harming seabirds at the fishing pier.

Many seabirds and shorebirds are protected under the Migratory Bird Treaty Act which prohibits the killing, capturing, selling, trading, or transport of protected migratory bird species.

We are requesting that the Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) install cameras to document all activities and assign an FWC law enforcement officer to the Skyway Fishing Pier State Park to monitor the pier and uphold the law.
