Our animal shelters are packed and a lot of animals are put down due to the shelters being too full. A lot of times this happens because when a pet owner moves from one place to another,  pets are not allowed and those pets are abandoned or taken to a shelter. We as tenants should have a right to have pets as we're already paying a damage deposit to move in. That deposit should cover pet damage if any.

Florida Stat Ann. 828.13 states abandonment of any animal in your care is against the law. Unfortunately,  people are having to choose to either be homeless or break the law in order to have a home. 

While the choice to have an animal is up to the person, no one should have to make the choice to get rid of or abandon an animal in order to have a home. Please stop the abandonment and or killing of innocent animals due to landlords denying animals.
