STOP The Butchering of Dogs and Cats For Food in Florida

STOP The Butchering of Dogs and Cats For Food in Florida
The Issue
This has been brought to our attention, something that is so disturbing and we know the people of Florida will also be as disturbed about this as we are. We have learned that there are people in Florida who butcher dogs & cats for food. It is not illegal to butcher dogs or cats in the state of Florida for food as long as the meat is not being sold. This needs to be rectified and a law be put into place to protect these family pets from a horrible death.
There is currently no federal law that would prohibit the sale of dog or cat meat for human consumption. There is no legislative intent for the federal government to preempt the states in this area.
In summary, Federal Food Safety law makes it illegal for slaughterhouses to process dogs and cats. It does not, however cover home meat-slaughtering operations.
So torturing a dog or cat is animal cruelty, but in 44 states eating your pets is okay as long as they were humanely killed. You’ve got to be kidding me! Please, someone wake me up from this nightmare!
I still hold on, despite the horror I have just learned that exposing the truth, knowledge, and compassion, is great power and will lead to necessary change.
Please help make this change happen!
Please call Governor Rick Scott, Lieutenant Governor Carlos Lopez-Cantera, Senator Marco Rubio, your State Representative and Adam H. Putnam, Commissioner of Agriculture to put a stop to this barbaric practice.
