Florida- make Animal Abusers serve the maximum penalty. Justice for animals!
The Issue
We can all agree those capable of causing intentional harm to the innocent- children and animals are NOT good people. Those who can intentionally cause serious harm to an innocent animal dependent on them for care, have serious mental and emotional issues, and usually a lengthy criminal record to back that up. On Sunday, May 29, 2016- a time to honor Memorial Day and spend time with loved ones, a Volusia county man, (with a criminal record), was indeed caught attempting to drown his white Pit Bull in a pond near where he lived, multiple times. According to several news reports, "A Volusia County man is being accused of repeatedly trying to drown a pit bull in a retention pond, according to Daytona Beach Police." Though a kind hearted neighbor, contacted the police to report such abuse, the pit bull was taken to a nearby animal hospital with serious injuries. The man charged with animal abuse is 35 year old, Kurtis Kimble of Daytona Beach, FL. "Kimble, a convicted felon, was taken to Volusia County Branch Jail and released on Monday on his own recognizance." No time, not even a bond paid... An already convicted felon, caught in the act of animal cruelty, released one day later.... So that he may cause other aggressive acts of abuse to other animas, and perhaps people too?!! There is something very wrong here- a night in jail for attempted murder of an innocent animal and no fine? Florida needs stricter punishments for felony acts of animal Abuse. Please stand with me as we ask the florida legislatures to highly consider stricter punishments- lengthier sentences and higher fines, animal abuse registry and the ability to never own another animal again after such heinous acts are committed. This is so sad and disgusting. Florida needs to make the first act of animal abuse- any act of animal Abuse-a Felony, not a misdemeanor. This scumbag deserves the maximum punishment for his crime. Prayers for the safe recovery of another innocent animal who relied on the wrong people for care. "The more helpless the victim, the greater the crime!"
