The current law in effect for child support in the state of Florida doesn't help parents that are currently required to pay child support. Their law when you initially sign up doesn't help with custody nor does it help parents with the amount you pay. You fill a form out with your bills, cost of living etc. but they tend to not pay attention to it. Also, when the paying parent is going through a financial hardship they are still required to pay the "Court Order". If you are delinquent on your payment then specific licenses, drivers license, can be suspended which does not help because you have no transportation to work. When you contact the child support office they do not show empathy and provide you with misinformation that you actively listen to and abide by and most of the information received is wrong and you are ultimately held accountable for their mistake. Parents that receive child support are not required to support their child in any way or work. Some parents receive the support and live certain lifestyles and are not required to show proof of support to their child which should be changed. This law should actually be about supporting the child and needs to be changed to help those parents paying.
