Please extend and improve our school to accommodate for ALL of our children!

The Issue

Hello all, My name is Chelsea and I live in the Flintshire area in North Wales. As you may have guessed, the reason for my petition is to ensure that a place is allocated for my son at our local school. My son was refused a place at Broughton Primary school due to the excessive number of applicants resulting in 17 places being refused. This is mainly due to a new housing development in the area which has given the estimate of producing 60 extra primary school children. It is clear to see that this has had a massive impact on the school. The property developers have however granted £500,000 to the FLINTSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL to spend on the school. At the school appeals today I have been made aware that the money was received in August 2014 yet there have been no plans put in place by the council to extend or improve the school to accommodate for the extra children. During the summer holidays there is time to build an extension or to temporarily input mobile classrooms on the school premises, which is not short of outdoor space. I am asking for you all to sign this petition in the hope that the council will listen to us as a community and take action. If this problem is not solved now, it will continue to get worse as the population of Broughton continues to increase. Thank you for taking the time to read, Chelsea.
