Welcome to our Community Petition Form. By participating in this petition, you're joining in voicing your concerns and advocating for solutions that benefit everyone. 

We, the undersigned residents, community supporters, and concerned individuals, are strongly opposed to the proposed 14,000 square feet building with 4 flex spaces TMS# 285-00-00-070 & 285-00-00-207 development at 3735 Old Charleston Rd., Johns Island, SC 29455 in the historic Red Top community.

This development threatens the character, infrastructure, safety, and cultural integrity of a deeply rooted and historically Black neighborhood.

We urge Charleston County officials and planners to reject or reconsider this project for the following reasons:

• The road is already cracking and deteriorating due to heavy trucks from nearby businesses.
• Past development has caused foundation damage and drainage problems to nearby homes.
• Construction brings early morning noise, headaches, and daily disruptions to quality of life.
• The project could lead to gentrification and displacement of long-time, often elderly, residents.
• It would overshadow two historic churches and a community park central to Red Top’s identity.
• Traffic safety is already a concern, with drivers speeding through the area to cut between Hwy 17 and Main Road. This development could worsen those traffic issues, endangering pedestrians, children, and seniors.
• The neighborhood already struggles with drainage and flooding, which will only increase with more development and impervious surfaces.
