Flemington needs a skate park for our community. 

A skate park provides skaters from Flemington and the surrounding areas a safe place to practice their skills and connect with other people who share their passion. Open skate events attract riders of all ages, skill levels, and backgrounds and the self-directed nature of Open Skate programs fosters creativity, perseverance, and community among those who participate.  Many of or youth simply need a place to grow & a sense of belonging, and the skate park will have that.

Within the last few years, there have been sharp increases in mental health illness affecting our youth.  This skate park would be a healthy outlet for our youth. Exercise improves mental health by reducing anxiety, depression, and negative mood and by improving self-esteem and cognitive function. Exercise has also been found to alleviate symptoms such as low self-esteem and social withdrawal.

My daughter is 17 years old, and struggles with mental illness, having been in & out of care facilities, and still is struggling.  Skate boarding is a creative outlet for her that also helps to bring her back to reality.  She has enjoyed going to Ann Van skate park, it has been so much fun and beneficial for her, mentally and physically. It is sad there is nothing comparable to Ann Van in Flemington, or our area.

The plan is to make this an outdoor skate park.  It would be opened up to be used by skate boards, scooters, roller blades & bikes!  We want to be all inclusive, nobody is turned away & everyone is like family.

A skate park could bring in visitors from neighboring towns that would give Flemington much needed revenue.  Visitors would be attracted to stores, restaurants, and other local establishments nearby. 

Local businesses could advertise at the skate park, and sponsor the construction and, later, even hold sponsored events there.  We can see vending opportunities, such as merchandise, food, entertainment etc.

We need a skate park in Flemington, to fill a much needed void in our community.
