Immediately install gates to make the Grenville St pedestrian rail crossing safer

The safety at the Grenville Street pedestrian rail crossing in Hampton needs to be urgently upgraded with the installation of gates and bells.

Whilst this work has been previously promised by the Victorian Government, it has not been delivered. There have been a number of tragic deaths at this Crossing over the last few decades, the most recent of which occurred in April when 83-year-old grandmother was killed by a train whilst walking her dog.

The Minister for Public Transport, the Hon. Melissa Horne MLC needs to listen to the Community and keep the Crossing open and immediately undertake the previously committed safety improvements to install gates and bells.
